To solve the Mystery at Versailles you have to tour The Châteu de Versailles Museum answering the Mystery questions....

Pierre Mardi  is having the worst day of his life.  He is the youngest Frenchmen ever to work in  the museum of Versailles. Everyone told the King not to hire such a young servant because he is bound to make a mistake.  Lucky for Pierre, the King ignored the advice and put Pierre in charge of his very own crown.  Unfortunately, Pierre hide it in a very special place BUT CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE!  So he needs your help.  The Chateau is quite big and he has very little time to find it.  If you read the information from the following website and correctly answer the questions it might help Pierre recognize the last place he had it.  Pierre will try to retrace where he was today from the morning to night.

  1. Pierre  remembers having it when he was in the building that Philibert Le Roy designed.  What does this building look like and what was it called?

  2. But he remembered he walked out of that building and was later in a salon with Venus, Diana, Mars, Mercury and Apollo.  What apartment was this and where is it?

  3. Pierre left this room and was amazed by the Le Brun design of 30 compositions.  Describe 3 guises the monarch took in the Halls of Mirrors.  Also explain the historical event that took place in this room in 1919.

  4. Good work!  Pierre now remembers having the crown when he went to the Queen’s suite.  He is trying to remember the artwork because he had the crown on his head when he was looking at an Italian style ceiling and silk hangings of lilacs and peacocks.  Who’s room was he in?

  5. Pierre  wore it into a room that could seat 712 people.  Where was he?

  6. Where would Pierre be if he encountered rare vegetables, 1,080 orange, lemon, grapefruit, pomegranate trees from Spain, Portugal and Italy?

  7. Why would the Orangery be a great place to sleep in the summer and the WINTER?

  8.  What place is called little Venice?  What is similar to the city in Italy?

  9.  What needed to be built in order for the fountains to work?

  10.  Pierre remembers playing hide and go seek in 600 rooms of the grooms, musicians and pages.  Where was he?

  11.  One of the last things Pierre did today was run out to the building that used to be a village.  Louis the XIV  destroyed the town in order to build a place where he could go to when he wanted to leave Versailles.  The building had walls of porcelain and marble.  Where was he?

The winner will get the treasure chest that will be on display.
