Timeline for Each Class

Day 1 - Set up teams - Hwk. Source Doc.

You will be given your teams of four or five members.

You are going to work on one of the following buildings (distributed by the teacher):

The Pentagon

bullet

The Lincoln Memorial

bullet

The Washington Monument

bullet

The White House

bullet

The Capitol Building

bullet

Read carefully the tasks assigned for each Role.

As a group, decide which role each member will take, based on his/her preferences and interests.  Be careful on your selection.

bullet

Explore the internet resources provided for your project.

bullet

Ask any necessary questions to your teachers.

bullet

Hand in the completed Team Page.

For Homework: Work on your own role exploring the Resources given and create your Source Document.   You should bring your file on a disk for next class.

 
Day 2 - Save Source Doc. - Hwk. Formulas
bulletContinue exploring the sources to finish your Source Document, organize your document with headings, text and graphics so the teacher can understand your findings.

Make sure you include all the appropriate references.

bullet

Save your Source Document on the team folder and on your disk, use the role name as the file name.

For Homework: Print your Source Document to work with it at school.    Calculate the surface area and volume of the building and bring it to school next class.  You can use the Geometric Formulas page.

Day 3 - Fill formulas - Hwk: Budget & Scale Model

Share and discuss with your team your solutions for the surface area and volume of the building.

bullet

Fill out the Formulas page and give a copy to the teacher.

bullet

Calculate how much material you will need to use on your building.  Use the Budget page to find out how much.

bullet

Decide which hardware stores you will visit to investigate the prices for the material needed.

For Homework: Based on how much material you will need, visit three different hardware stores to find out who will give you the best prices.   You should bring the three lists of prices to school.  Start working on the Scale Model.

Day 4 - Budget - Hwk. Scale Model

Share with your team the prices and create the three budgets in a MS Excel workbook using three worksheets.

bullet

Create the Pie Chart for the prices you are going to use (another worksheet).

bullet

Calculate the timeline and create the chart for the construction of the building (another worksheet).

bullet

Save the Budget file on the team folder.

For Homework:  Continue working on the Scale Model (due for next class).

 

Day 5 - Pictures of Scale Model - Hwk. Power Point
bullet

Bring your Scale Model to take the pictures for the presentation.

bullet

The Power point editor will discuss and write the introduction and conclusion of the Presentation with the rest of the group.

bullet

The Power Point file will be saved on the team folder by the editor.

bullet

Start working on your Power Point individual part.  

For Homework: Continue working on your Power Point individual part.   Save your file on a disk to bring it for next class.

Day 6 - Power Point - Review Budget - Hwk. Scale M.

Share your Power Point individual parts with the editor.

bullet

Get together with your group to review and finish the final, complete version of the Budget.

bullet

Make sure you meet all the requirements listed on the Budget Checklist.

For Homework: Review and add any missing details of the Scale Model.

Day 7 - Save PP. - Fill Checklist - Peer Evaluations

Get together with your group to create the final, complete version of the Power Point presentation.

bullet

Make sure you include the references on the appropiate format.

Rehearse and time your Presentation

Make sure you meet all the requirements listed on the Multimedia Checklist.

Save the file on the team folder.

Fill out the Peer Evaluations.
