In this unit you will study about the early civilizations of the Americas.  You will learn about the Aztec, Maya, and Inca cultures and what happened to them as a result of the Spanish conquest.  You will take a stand on the following unit statement: “The Spanish conquest marked the beginning of a dark age in the history of the Americas.”  You can revise your initial stand as you gather more information throughout the course  of your web search.

  A prestigious museum has hired you and other three famous archaeologists to start an investigation on the Aztec, Maya and Inca Cultures. You need to gather information and take notes, pictures and evidences about their geographical location, religious practices, architecture, diet, recreation and daily life to analyze and understand their different cultures.

 Your challenge in this project will be to display and illustrate the cultures of Aztecs, Mayas, and Incas.  Through the analysis of sources you will be able to compare and contrast core beliefs and some interesting details about those early civilizations.  You will create an illustrated magazine where you support your group’s point of view regarding the unit statement.
