DNA EXTRACTION

How to extract DNA from anything living?

DNA is the blueprint for life, everything living contains
DNA. It is extracted from human cells for a variety of
reasons. With a pure sample of DNA you can test a
newborn for a genetic disease, analyze forensic
evidence, or study a gene involved in cancer.

The purpose of this activity was to extract DNA from
one source. Students had the opportunity to choose
their source such as peas, spinach, chicken liver,
strawberries or broccoli; any material available at
      home.

They worked on the DNA extraction lab and recorded
in a video all procedures to follow in order to be
      successful.

The ninth grade Advlit class conducted table reads for The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. For dramatic
effect and uniformity, the students were required to do a few preparations: wear all black, filter-in a
background or a "stage setting," and use intonation and facial expressions to mimic characterizations.
